CCI’s geotechnical group provides extensive services for use in the design of pipeline projects. The geotechnical investigation phase of any crossing is the most important part of the design process. The accuracy and completeness of a geotechnical investigation allows the designer to have confidence the design will be successful and the correct method of construction is being implemented. This highly specialized field, combined with the designer’s expertise of the proposed trenchless method, allows CCI to customize each geotechnical investigation for the clients to maximize return on their investments.

  • Review of terrain, aerial photography and published geological information; evaluations to identify/avoid geotechnical issues that may potentially affect the project; identification of alternate routes and/or mitigation measures

  • Geotechnical investigation to review site subsurface conditions including gathering of hard data from boreholes, pits, etc.

  • Development of geotechnical models

Steve Musulak and Ian Jones are contributing pioneers of the geotechnical investigation for the trenchless industry. With a combined 80 years of experience, they were the first in the industry to successfully use heli-portable seismic rigs to complete these types of investigations. This significantly reduced costs, but also minimized the environmental footprint to near zero.
